Over the last few years we have been blessed to establish a strong partnership with DHS Child Welfare. Our involvement with this organization encompasses  a wide range of service opportunities and  projects. On a regular basis, through the support of our congregation, we have been able to collect Welcome Boxes for the foster children entering care and provide treats and encouraging notes for caseworkers. But our partnership with DHS amounts to much more than meeting material needs, it is an opportunity to surround those in our community who are the most vulnerable with love, value, and purpose — the greatest call of those who call themselves disciples of Jesus.

We support the children of Marion and Polk counties through assembling boxes of new personal belongings that the children receive as they enter foster care, but are waiting to be placed with a family. In a very unsure time, these boxes provide the children with an activity to do, some belongings to call their own, and some basic comfort and personal hygiene items. Our goal with these boxes is to remind them, like we are reminded by God’s word,  that we are not forgotten or forsaken.  For more information on Welcome Boxes, please visit our Information Table on Sunday mornings.

Through the Office Moms and Dads program, the children entering Foster Care have the opportunity to connect with a safe and loving adult who will provide temporary support as they transition into the care of state approved foster parents. If you don't have the resources to foster children full time, this is a great way to directly impact their lives even if it's just for a few hours. For more information on Office Moms and Dads, please visit our Information Table on Sunday mornings.

Treat Yo' Self is one way that we are able to give back to the employees of DHS who serve on the front lines each day advocating for the most vulnerable children in our community. After long, emotionally taxing hours we like to bless the DHS staff by providing them with homemade goodies and notes of thanks once a month. For more information on "Treat Yo' Self",  be sure and check out our facebook page or visit our Information Table on Sundays.
